Reading for the Story

Overview: This module is designed to provide students with the ability to deconstruct the main story from an ERP publication without needing to understand all of the technical details.  It uses a student-authored publication, but the paper can be swapped for one of your choice. 

Topics Covered:  

  • Identifying the big question 
  • Understanding the key elements of experimental design 
  • Clarifying the hypotheses using “if-then” statements 
  • Linking the hypothesis to the big question 
  • Interpreting the pattern of results  
  • Understanding the conclusion with implications & limitations
